Must-Have Streaming Apps for Every Movie Lover

Why I Keep Coming Back to These Must-Have Streaming Apps

I gotta say, must-have streaming apps for every movie lover have kinda taken over my evenings here in the States. Right now I’m on the couch, window open letting in that cool evening air, half a pizza box still sitting there from dinner, and I’m scrolling again like I don’t have anything better to do.

Used to be I’d just turn on regular TV but now it’s all these apps fighting for my attention. I waste way too much time picking something and then half the time I end up falling asleep halfway through anyway.

Netflix – The One That Always Gets Me

Netflix is probably the biggest must-have streaming app in my house. A couple months ago during a rainy weekend I started one movie thinking it’d be quick and next thing I knew it was 3am and I had work the next day. My eyes were killing me at the office but I still didn’t regret it much.

The suggestions are hit or miss but when they hit, they really hit. I’ve canceled it a couple times when the price bugged me then signed right back up. If you’re a movie lover who likes variety, Netflix has to be on your must-have streaming apps list.

Hulu – Good for Staying Current Without Too Much Effort

Hulu became another one of my must-have streaming apps pretty quick. I like that new episodes show up fast and there’s always something decent to throw on. After a long commute the other day I just wanted something funny and it delivered.

The ads on the cheap plan still annoy the hell out of me though. I usually bundle it so it feels less painful. It’s one of those practical must-have streaming apps that earns its spot most weeks.

Max – When I Want Something That Feels Better Than Average

Max is where I go when I’m trying to feel like I have good taste in movies. A coworker mentioned something during lunch and I watched it that night with the lights off and snacks balanced on my knee. Some of their stuff is really solid.

I canceled it once thinking I was being smart with money then brought it back two weeks later. Typical. Still, for movie lovers who want quality, Max is worth having in the must-have streaming apps mix.

Disney+ and My Nostalgia Problem

Disney+ is sneaky. I’m a grown man paying rent and everything but I’ll put on an old animated movie when I’m stressed and suddenly two hours are gone. The other night I was eating cold takeout straight from the carton and got a little emotional over a kids film.

Yeah it’s embarrassing but whatever. It fills a spot in the must-have streaming apps pretty nicely if you don’t mind the occasional comfort watch.

A Few More That Come and Go

  • Paramount+ when I want something different or a new release.
  • Apple TV+ for the times I’m okay paying more for less but better stuff.
  • Prime Video since it comes with my regular Prime so it basically feels free.

I tried too many free trials at once last year and my email and bank statement were both a mess. Learned that lesson the hard way.

The Annoying Chaos of Having Too Many Must-Have Streaming Apps

Managing all these must-have streaming apps is honestly exhausting sometimes. I forget which show is on which one, lose the remote in the couch cushions, and sometimes just give up and watch random videos instead.

My living room usually looks like a small disaster with blankets everywhere and empty cans on the table. It’s not pretty but it’s real. I started keeping a quick note on my phone with what I’m watching where. Helps a little but not enough.

Wrapping This Up From My Couch

Sitting here with the TV paused on the menu again, I guess must-have streaming apps for every movie lover have made my free time both better and way more complicated than it needs to be. Some nights they’re great company. Other nights I feel like I should probably go outside instead of this.

This is just my imperfect take from right here. Start with Netflix or Hulu, add what you actually use, and don’t end up with eight subscriptions like I almost did.

What are your must-have streaming apps these days? Tell me in the comments – maybe I’ll finally cancel one of mine. Seriously, I could use the help.

(I rambled again and probably repeated stuff. Sorry about that. Too many late nights scrolling.)
